ANECdotE!

hispanic church

After being negotiated into going to church, we attended mass in Spanish. The mass lasted a week, she says it was only an hour and a half but I felt like that as soon as I walked out I was walking back in again. On the way out the priest stopped me and asked me in Spanish if I enjoyed the sermon, I told him “si, era muy emocionante”. He asked me which part did I like the most about the sermon. I tried to think and I just looked at my Colombian girlfriend and asked her in English with a whisper, what was the sermon about? She said “dile que parte te gusto de el sermon?” I looked at the priest, starting to sweat and said “el parte de dios, no tanto de el demonio” He smiled at me and said, in English “good answer”. As we walked away I asked my Colombian girlfriend why was I the only one he asked that question to, she said because you were the only one snoring.

AnecDOtE! TIMES WHEN YOU SHOULD JUST KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT

27 year old

I went to a birthday party of a co-worker when I was 17. He was going bald and had a hard look. I asked him how old he was turning and he said 27. I just looked at him stunned because I thought he was much older and I said “27, how old were you before?” My other buddy started to laugh and the birthday guy looked at me and said “26”, I just said “oh yeah, that makes sense”. Still couldn’t believe it, he had to be 40 before.

Another true story from life.

DIVORCED W/ CHILDREN

divorce with children

The worst part about a divorce is how it affects the children. The effects can sometimes be minimal but can be seen sometimes in their grades as they start to dip, their behavior as they become more rebellious, their lack of closeness, their lack of caring and their lack of a path forward due to the parents not sharing the same plan or principles on how to guide their child.

Sometimes tough love is what is needed sometimes a lending ear but how would one know what the other is doing or what is needed if you are not there all the time?

DEMO DEBATE 01/14/2020

demo debate 01 14 2020

I’m going to make this real simple. In my opinion

Buttigieg and Steyer made the best arguments to be nominated.

Klobuchar had an off night but I think she had other things going on

Warren was good but attacked Sanders in a he said she said matter that should have never made the news

Sanders is the Godfather of the Democrats but was hindered by this he said she said business

Biden needs to keep focus, he isn’t stuttering, he is actually thinking ahead too much and conflating his answers.

Messages were all the same from the candidates with Buttigieg and Steyer seeming to resonate and be steady with their message

Still though a Klobuchar presidency would be interesting

Everyone saw that there was something missing at this debate. It was sort of boring. We all know what it is  …….         ….      Yang!

Whether we like it or not, it’s a television debate and your opponent knows how to work a camera, while boring is probably best for the head of the Executive branch, people watch to much reality TV and are drawn to the person that illuminates, like a shiny penny, so either get on your game or, as we say in the northeast, forgetaboutit…. So get energetic, take a 5 Hour shot before your debate, drink 5 or 6 red bulls, make us believe that you believe what you are saying because I literally fell asleep watching the debate

And for goodness sake, no petty sh….. stuff.

MORE REASONS TO HAVE THE SUPREME COURT PICK THEIR OWN NOMINEES

scotus 1

Another reason why the Supreme Court should pick their own nominees for the position of judges. In a recent article, the writer who is reporting on a case currently in the Appellate court, makes mention of who appointed the judges deciding the case. While this has no bearing on their decision, the mention of it, which is totally appropriate, gives the allusion of partisanship. Read the part of the article below and tell me if it didn’t stick in your mind

“Griffith, a Republican appointee, and Judge Judith Rogers, a Democratic appointee, questioned the administration’s arguments that the House panel has no legal standing to enforce its subpoena and that there is broad presidential immunity that applies to efforts to seek testimony from close advisers.

The other judge, Republican appointee Karen Henderson, said little.” Reported by Reuters

If that article had read that the judges were appointed by the Supreme Court, then it would make you feel different about any partisanship. Optics matter, even if they aren’t true. I think it’s time to find a reasonable solution that allows the Supreme Court or a cabinet appointed by them, to select who will be on the judiciary.

MPO: IT’S TIME TO HIT THE RESET BUTTON

reset

When everything starts to get out of hand, double standards are prevalent and injustices are the norm, it might be time to just hit the reset button and get back to normal and doing the right thing. It doesn’t mean forget the past, we need to remember why it was necessary to hit that button in the first place.

THE FIGHT EVERYONE WANTS TO HAPPEN

garcia v loma

If I had the money and was a promoter, the one fight I would make happen is Mikey Garcia vs. Vasyl Lomanchenko. This is the biggest fight boxing can make today. Pure boxing fans see this fight as the match up of the decade but for right now it doesn’t look like it will materialize. Garcia is a pure boxer, who at 135 pounds should be ranked number 1 but do to boxing politics would be ranked under Loma. Loma is a special talent that comes once in a decade, he is the type of fighter that future fighters will try and emulate. This fight has the makings or maybe compares itself to another fight that happened years ago when a fighter with a special talent fought a pure boxer, Hamed vs. Barrera. Hamed was running through his opposition like a hot knife through butter. Barrera was the proud Hispanic fighter that wanted to cement his legacy. Everyone turned in to watch that fight and it was one of the most entertaining fights of the decade.

While I compare the two fighters to two different fighters of a different era, they are not alike in personality. Mikey is a laid back congenial person outside the ring that represents himself well. Loma is not the brash, cocky fighter, like Hamed, that feels that he needs to promote himself, his promotion comes from his quality wins. Loma is more of a business man that realizes that he started his professional career later than most of his opponents and only looks for challenges that make sense. The fact still remains though, that this fight is a must see, will bring in the numbers, will definitely give one of them a guaranteed spot in the BHOF and put him at the numero uno spot in the pound for pound list.

For right now we wait and see if Arum and Hearn can work together to make it happen. Mikey is at 147 getting ready for Vargas, a sure to be entertaining and tough fight and Loma just dispatched Campbell in a closer than expected fight where we saw Loma rise to the challenge against the taller fighter late in the fight to secure a really good win. We’ll see if Santa will bring these fighters together in the upcoming year and give all boxing fans the best Christmas gift.
