AnecDotE/MPO: MY VIEW ON RACISM

sun

This might be very controversial but my view on racism is that some people don’t like other people because of the amount of sunburn they can or can’t get. That’s what it boils down to. That is the only difference. I guess if we all could receive the same amount of sunburn, we would get along………… or find something else to hate each other for. This is meant to be humorous and to show how silly the concept of racism is. So oddly enough. it’s the Sun’s fault, racism. When that mother fucker blows up, racism will end.

Again, this is meant to be humorous and make you think. You know what comedians are, more effective philosophy teachers. Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Dave Chappelle, Chuck Lorre… The best Philosophy teachers of all time.

MPO: DACA

daca

DACA is back in the news and for a good reason. The dreamers got a reprieve from the Supreme court and if their case goes back to court, it won’t be until 2021 before it would reach the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court decided to not allow to rescind the DACA program due to administrative reasons, filed incorrectly, which I think Elaine Duke might or might not have done somewhat intentionally. I know she received a lot of angst by the people that support the dreamers and now by the people that oppose it but I don’t think she deserves it. I always thought there was an easy fix for these dreamers, a sort of go around that would allow them to stay in the country. The U.S. gives away a certain number of visas every year to foreign residents for legal entry into the U.S.. Nothing states that those people, the ones that receive these visas for legal entry and residence, have to be outside the U.S. when they receive it. These dreamers are proven good citizens, hard working and intelligent, and to no fault of their own, already inside the country. There is nothing that says they can’t be the recipients of these legal entry passes that gives them the right to live in the country. I believe this would solve the problem on both sides of the political aisle and allow everyone to be happy. There are very few opportunities to grant entry to people that show that they could not only live in this country without being on public assistance but also speak the language fluently, are professionals and have a good work ethic that would only improve the country. I don’t know if this a legal or workable solution but I do know that uprooting people that only know one country and sending them to a foreign country where they have never lived and forcing them to sell all their belongings and leave their jobs is absolutely not nice.

MPO: INFINITE SPACE

infinite space

I always thought that, with the bettering of technology, we should send satellites into space, every 5 years, in a straight line, that could communicate with each other and send images to each other and finally relaying images back to us, on Earth, just to see how infinite space really is. I would enlist several other countries and split the price tag evenly with them and share the information with them. You never know what will be found. You would probably have to have some kind of solar rechargeable battery and some kind of imminent collision device that would allow it to avoid Captain Marvel or the Guardians of the Galaxy (I know that they’re not real) but just in case an asteroid or other debris….. and Captain Marvel or the Guardians of the Galaxy are to busy to prevent the collision, then we should have something there to do evasive maneuvers.

TAXES

get what you pay for

People still complain about being treated like second class citizens while paying first class citizen taxes. Your complaints are you are being killed and  abused and you are paying for it to boot. If you feel like a second class citizen, pay second class taxes. That by the way is nothing, until they bump you up to a first class citizen.

THE SUPREME COURT

scotus 1

The Supreme Court made a ruling in the Title VII case and it made, in my opinion, the right call. It ruled that discriminating against a person on who they love unlawful and covered under federal law. It makes me think of nature vs nurture. If you believe that nature is the predominant influence, then you are most likely a believer of God, as he/she…. God controls nature, and if you feel that way, being born gay is what God made you than it can’t be wrong, because God doesn’t make mistakes and if you think God did, you can tell God that when you meet him, let’s see how that goes. If you believe in nurture, than you most likely believe in evolution, which also means that this is the way you evoluted, is that a word, which again can’t be wrong. Either way, your preference on who you choose to love can’t be wrong (unless, you know, the other person doesn’t feel the same and you decide to try and make them feel that way, but that’s a totally different Supreme Court case for the future) and any person who thinks it is can’t believe in God and/or evolution. Which makes them wrong.

And good for them, the LGBQT community, it is a much deserved win in a society that seems to be losing it’s mind. It goes to show what part of government must remain constant in common sense while the other parts seem to fluctuate.

I once again urge lawmakers to change the way that federal judges are chosen. I would think that the best way to choose federal judges would  be by letting an independent panel within the third part of government, the judicial part, choose and have a unanimous decision by the the  current Supreme Court judges affirm. If this is a separate part of government, then let them be separate.

Don’t elect me President, that would be one of the first things that would happen. I also wouldn’t want to be because I make silly decisions like the second thing that would happen, which would be a water fountain that has Corona Light, what… I said Light, less calories, with lime wedges all around the fountain. Mmmmmm…..

THE MOVEMENT TO DEFUND THE POLICE

defund the police

There is an ever growing movement to defund the police. This should scare the hell out of all law enforcement around the country. It’s a reaction to people that are seen as the enemy in some neighborhoods. Being former law enforcement, I understand both sides of the story. There is an adversarial relationship between law enforcement and its citizens but it doesn’t have to be that way. When I worked with the Border Patrol, I saw the illegal citizens coming into the country as my customers, much like a retailer would see a shopper. I treated them that way because they kept me employed. Sounds strange doesn’t it but that is the view I had of them. I would go talk to them sometimes prior to them crossing over and ask them if they needed any water or just to talk to them to find out their story. I would spend an hour sometimes just talking to them. Most of the time they wouldn’t try and cross after we talked but if they did, they wouldn’t give me a hard time when I caught them. And like a good customer service person, I understood their needs and what they wanted, even though I couldn’t really let them have it, in this case entry into the U.S.. But the fact that I took a little time to know my customers, their names, their story, made things easier. It also helped that I spoke their language, being hispanic, and understood where they were coming from, in terms of their hardships. Community policing, which means actually interacting with the community, would help a ton in alleviating the mistrust. I rarely had a problem with my customers and knew them pretty well and treated them like I would like to be treated. While I agree with some of the steps that they want to take; mandatory body cameras and audio feeds, diversity training, implementing a non lethal police squad for community relations policing, lowering court protections for police wrongdoers; I also don’t feel like defunding the police significantly is going to help. And this goes both ways, because the years of mistrust is on both sides, so the community have to talk to the officers, and remember that they have kids at home and that they like to drink a beer and watch sports or go to the beach and hang out. Until a better plan is put in place to rid the country of crime, because there is going to be crime, then what we have to do is engage both sides into real discussions on how best to come up with an equitable solution so we don’t see each other as the enemy.

There is a way to construct a non lethal force from the current force. You make a non lethal force and have them respond to non lethal calls, traffic accidents or in the case of Eric Garner, which should be trained in hand to hand combat, and you have roving armed force waiting to respond to any situations that might require lethal fore, i.e. an individual with a gun. Non lethal forces should be armed with intermediate weapons, but should also be trained in de-escalation.

IMO: THE PERFECT STORM

perfect storm

Every one heard of the perfect storm theory. It’s definition is a particularly bad or critical state of affairs, arising from a number of negative and unpredictable factors. You have a pandemic that forces everyone inside and is killing loved ones, you have a senseless killing of a human being due to his race, and you have an economic meltdown. My bet is that you won’t see something like this for another thousand years. It’s definitely something you will see in the history books. It’s make or break time for our leaders. This is not a criticism of anyone. It can be an opportunity to show real leadership or it can be career ending if you falter.

IMO: THERE IS A BETTER WAY

protest

I understand the frustration, believe me I do, but by giving away the upper hand by looting and destroying your neighborhood isn’t the solution. When those initial emotional frustrations wane off, you’re left with a destroyed neighborhood that might have businesses that might reopen or decide not to, creating a big economical problem for your town and your family, creating a cycle of poverty and even worse conditions for yourself. Some of those businesses might even be minority owned or mom and pop shops that might never reopen. This would bring less revenue in the form of taxes for your school and betterment. I say you skip the looting and destruction and if you feel that the law or society is not giving you what you pay for in your taxes, then, as a group, stop paying them, taxes. Lets see how fast they fix the system then. Pretty damn quickly. You have to protest smart not loudly and violently. The looting just hurt you even more, but if you protest smart, pay or in this case don’t pay for services not rendered, then you will get more of a resolution and change. In my opinion.

MPO: LESSON LEARNED

necessity

With the coronavirus on full attack, their is a long list of things that we are in need of. The problem is most of those things are made in different countries. With the long list of made not in the USA of products, which in a global community seems fine, but when a virus upends our lives, and the simple things become like gold, like toilet paper, and the borders are closed, we have to go to the old way of doing stuff, and some of those leaves are hard to reach. I guess what I’m saying is, we should find a way to eliminate the greed of these big companies and bring some back home so China, who makes everything we use, including the virus (probably not), doesn’t have us by the wet wipes or the clorox wipes. I mean it’s great that Clorox is HQ’ed in California, but all their products are made somewhere else, actually their made next door to the HQ, maybe not the best example, but you know what I mean.
