IMO: OUR ECONOMY ROTATES AROUND THE STRENGTH OF OUR DOLLAR

The American Dollar in all of it’s green glory, really is one of the ugliest currencies around. I mean if you look at the Euro with it’s cool blue and earth tones and The English pound with it’s majestic portraits of royalty, America has former Presidents and heads of state looking like they ate bad turkey on thanksgiving. Am I right…. I only look that green after a foul meal (get it because of the bad turkey joke, I guess if you have to explain it) or on halloween if I go as the Hulk. But maybe we made it that ugly for a reason, the guy that designed it was colorblind, I can’t think of any other reason. This article is not solely on why we use credit cards more than cash but also to point out that this economy runs on our currency strength. We are not a huge manufacturing company, That belongs to the countries that pay wages far less than ours, we are innovators. We come up with the ideas before shipping them overseas. The fact that we are innovators and not manufacturers puts this country in a different realm than , let us say, China, where they build giga factories and hospitals in less time it takes us to invade the Capitol. You see manufacturing countries can keep their currency low for a reason, because they receive money, but innovators, they need to have their currency strong because they have to use less of it to pay China. When your country’s influence runs on buying power, and we are the largest consumers of everything, which is why our economy is strong, then you want to make sure that your currency buys with a bang. How can I put this so even I understand it.

Americans are gluttons for consumer products, we buy until we are fat and unhappy and after we get happy by decluttering, we go out and make sure we become unhappy again by buying more useless shit, but that’s not a bad thing. It, excess, is what made us who we are, the most powerful country in the world. So when the dollar starts to look like the ARS (Argentina Nuevo Peso) we are in big trouble. We now have to decide whether to save for retirement or buying our toys. We used to be able to do both, now we are starting to have to choose. The affect that will have on our economy and are global standing will be evident when China surpasses us as the leading fat cats on the block. Then China will start sending us their ideas and we will send them their products because they are the new USA and we will become the new ARS (Argentina). Our ability to go out there and buy is what kept us strong, our inability to do so, will eventually bring us down. The Fed Reserve must come up with a plan to raise the buying power of the dollar if it wants to recover from this economic downturn and it needs to do it now. Keep America strong, buy that treadmill you will never use. It is not only not wrong or right it’s your patriotic duty

It could be that I’m a little tone deaf given the current crise, (that’s the correct form of the word), but the ideology still holds true. The people that are out of work and want to get back to work can only do it when we start buying uncontrollably but within our limits and when I say limits I mean until you luxury SUV can’t fit another item in it. When we can still save for retirement and buy the foot massager that you are going to regift after using it maybe… hmmm… three times.?!.?!, then we are America again. So save America and buy buy buy, for those who can afford it. And, buy American, sounds a little selfish, if you can, if there is anything that’s made in America anymore.

I would also like to take a timeout to thank the non-citizen citizens who kept all the produce and meat factories and chicken factories going. A majority of those factories are made up of you and I truly appreciate you and your sacrifice because if those factories employed only U.S. citizens, chicken would be $20 a pack, not $4 and salads would be non existent because you couldn’t pay a U.S. citizen enough to do that back breaking work. Thank you or muchas gracias, you literally saved this country.
