Pictured in uniform is Jose Mendoza Lopez and pictured with the sign is Harvey Milk. Recently, there has been some discussion on the removal of Harvey Milk’s name being removed from a Navy Replenishment Oiler. For those who don’t know, that’s a Navy ship, whose main mission is to re-supply other ships or military bases with needed items. While not exactly a “battle ship”, it still serves an important role in keeping the Navy running smoothly. The political left is outraged and stating that you don’t have anything better than to do than renaming a ship, while some have said that the only reason that they are doing it is because Harvey Milk was gay and it’s a clear sign of homophobia. The right is saying that it is an honor to have a Military frigate named after you and it should go to the most deserving and should be something with a warrior mentality that makes you proud to serve on it.
So who is right? Should thought be put into naming Military bases and freighters and equipment or should any old name be used? How about the USS Dahmer, that would terrify our opposition. Nothing stokes fear into the enemy more than a cannibal. How about the USS Liberace? If we can’t kill them we will show tune them to death. We can even bedazzle the boat with little gems and rhinestones. The truth is that the ship should have been named something else in the first place.
Harvey Milk’s claim to fame is that he broke some kind of barrier by becoming the first openly gay person to serve in an elected office, in San Francisco…. California. Milk did serve in the military but did not serve in combat but was in the military during the Korean War. Milk was discharged on an “other than honorable” service category from the military, most likely due to his homosexuality but it’s not clear what happened. Milk was also said to have pursued a sexual relationship with a 16 year old boy while he was in his 30’s but was never charged. Some accounts place the child at 17 while others state that they didn’t do anything sexual until the person was 18. It’s really not clear what happened but in all honesty, do you think that the Democrats made the right call naming a ship after this guy?
The other guy pictured above is Jose M Lopez. He was a Medal of Honor recipient who was credited for single handedly saving his whole company. His accommodation, who was written by his commander and told by eye witnesses, reads as such: “On his own initiative, he carried his heavy machine gun from Company K’s right flank to its left in order to protect that flank, which was in danger of being overrun by advancing enemy infantry supported by tanks. Occupying a shallow hole offering no protection above his waist, he cut down a group of 10 Germans. Ignoring enemy fire from an advancing tank, he held his position and cut down 25 more enemy infantry attempting to turn his flank. Glancing to his right, he saw a large number of infantry swarming in from the front. Although dazed and shaken from the enemy artillery fire that had crashed into the ground only a few yards away, he realized that his position would soon be outflanked. Again, alone, he carried his machine gun to a position to the right rear of the sector; enemy tanks and infantry were forcing a withdrawal. Blown backward by the concussion of enemy fire, he immediately reset his gun and continued his fire. Single-handedly, he held off the German horde until he was satisfied that his company had effected its retirement. Again, he loaded his gun on his back, and in a hail of small arms fire, he ran to a point where a few of his comrades were attempting to set up another defense against the onrushing enemy. He fired from this position until his ammunition was exhausted. Still carrying his gun, he fell back with his small group to Krinkelt. Sgt. López’s gallantry and intrepidity, on seemingly suicidal missions in which he killed at least 100 of the enemy were almost solely responsible for allowing Company K to avoid being enveloped, to withdraw successfully and to give other forces coming up in support time to build a line which repelled the enemy drive.”
Given the bravery of Msgt. Lopez and the accusations of Mr. Milk, why is it that the Demos are so up in arms about the renaming of the ship, even though it probably won’t be named after Msgt. Lopez? The Demos had a decision to make and they decided to name a ship after a pedophile just because he was gay and for no other reason. If Milk had been gay and saved his company, it would be a different story, but he was gay and pursued a minor. If Milk had not been gay, the Demos wouldn’t even care who he was. Do you see why people are losing faith in the Democrats? They put zero thought into their decisions that they make and then complain when someone tries to correct them with some kind of unhinged political correctness and warped sense of right and wrong. It’s incredibly stupid that we even have to discuss this. Msgt. Lopez, who put his life on the line and saved countless lives with his bravery has no military items named after him but the guy that got elected by other gay people somehow deserves to be immortalized.
My advice to the democrats, stop crying over spilled Milk.
